Admire a life-like detailed picture of your pet displayed in your home by commissioning an animal portrait.
I take commissions for horse, dog and cat portraits. Other pets and farm animals are considered. Feel free to message me with any requests. Please note, I do not take commissions for portraits of people.
Portrait Options
You can chose from three sizes of portrait. A 15″x11″ which will fit in a 20″x16″ frame, an 11″x8″ portrait which will fit in a 14″x11″ frame and a 7″x5″ portrait. I am able to render your portrait in highly detailed graphite or as a vibrant watercolour and coloured pencil painting. Both are worked on high quality pH neutral boards ensuring your portrait lasts. The completed portrait will be delivered mounted and ready to frame. Please note, the 7″x5″ is a recent addition to my size range and I am not able to provide mounts for them at this time.
You can opt for a blank background, a coloured background (if ordering a painting) or a subtle environmental background which does not have to appear as it does in the photo.
You have the option of a head and shoulder study, a full body portrait or whatever suits you!

Choosing a Photograph
If you chose to order a portrait, please look at my Photographing Your Pet guide. This will help you choose a good photo and outlines the ideal photos I work from. There’s also advice on taking your own photo. Alternatively, it may be possible to arrange for me to come and photograph your pet depending on your location. Message me here and we can discuss your portrait options. I may be working on other commissions which may result in a wait for your portrait. If this is the case I will contact you with an estimate of the time when I can start your portrait.
When you are have chosen the type and size of portrait you would like, the next step is to send a selection of photos to jessicahiltonart@gmail.com for review. Using Dropbox or Google Drive are good methods. The more photos you send, the better chance we have of choosing the best one for your portrait. Alternatively, we can arrange a time for me to photograph your pet for you.
Payment
When your photo has been chosen, I request the non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total cost via cheque or bank transfer. I will then begin your portrait and give you an estimate time for completion. When complete, your portrait will be delivered on receipt of full payment.
Your Portrait in Progress
Progress may be updated on my blog so you can check here to see how your picture is developing. If the painting is to be a present or you would rather it not be posted on my site, just let me know and I can email you updates regularly if you wish. Please feel free to let me know your thoughts on your paintings progress and whether you would like anything altered.
Postage and Delivery
Once your portrait is complete, you have the option of having it delivered by recorded delivery at an additional cost, or you may collect it from me.
I am currently using up some packaging already acquired and am looking into more environmentally friendly packaging.
After your portrait is delivered, I would kindly ask if you would leave a review on my Facebook page which may also be added to my website.
